37. profound and sad
Steve, This is one of the best expressions of any type that I have seen regarding the president and this country. I am a 62 years old just retired and feel I have seen a lot in my time. Nothing like this current government. We went through Vietnam, a horrible, unjust war, and hoped to never see anything like it again. We now face this mess in Iraq that we all know has no end in sight. In the meantime, everything here at home goes to hell in a hand basket. Of course, not if you are big business, however. While Bush and company find billions of dollars for this unjust war, can someone explain to me why we had money for war but not for health care? My health insurance runs out next month. I will get a little over $500 from Social Security, Blue Cross has quoted me $719.00 per month for insurance. Anyone see a problem with this math? I have already decided that I have to go back to work. There are millions of us in the same boat. Health care should be an American right, not just something available as a benefit if you are working or if you are rich. Many like me worked all our lives(except for a few years to raise kids) and quess what. We're tired. And the government thinks its OK to reduce Social Security benefits? What does George think Social Security is, the million dollar lottery that we all win? We paid in and will get a paltry sum in return. Meanwhile the war consumes billions. Anyone remember Eisenhower's speech about the military industrial complex? Rings true. Thanks for your eloquent thoughts and for allowing this granny to vent!
