You have to have a boogieman or the story won't work. If we had caught him, would we really have moved on to Iraq? Would the other cards in the deck have been scary enough to justify the loses as "worth it" now? Sort of like all the Nightmare on Elm Street or Halloween movies ... would the sequals have been possible if they had actually stopped the bad guy in the first movie?

When ratings are down, bring out the bad guy that got the best "box office return" and you are sure to have a summer block buster. As long as it's an Iraqi block that gets busted, we should be happy right? That's the message I got from last nights crapfest of a speech.
