7. Having industrial infrastructure
to me is far more important than the patriot act and a Dept. of Homeland Security. Our nation's leaders are totally overlooking the possibility of a major war against a nation or group of nations that are our equal militarily. We've got to be able to mass produce ships, planes and tanks if need be AND keep them running, and that means more industry in the country and an end to dependence on oil and foreign oil in particular.

One more point I'd like to make - having a strong capacity to wage war does not mean having the largest standing army like republicans seem to think. So it is not hypocritical to be strong on national defense and want to cut the military budget. If the largest standing army won the war, Germany and Japan win WWII hands down and Russian wins WWI by itself.
