It really doesn't matter where it's coming from. You can see by the rate of dwindling output from oil fields, and the decreasing rate of new discoveries, that it will get in shorter supply at some point.

Besides, even if the earth were like a giant ball of oil with a thin crust on top, what are we going to do? burn it until the atmosphere is 50% carbon dioxide? Or suck the earth hollow?
