62. Opt out
Dean is the ultimate campaign finance reform candidate, with an average contribution of $80. Dean is not raising $200 million at $2000 a pop from the wealthy and corporate donors. His goal is $100 each from 2 million citizens.

He should opt out of the federal limits and go for it. He has almost raised the maximum allowed already. Otherwise, and very signficantly, he'll have very little money to spend after the primary when Bush will be going into high gear with his war chest, out of which he won't have taken a dime before the primary. Dean has the most extensive on-the-ground statewide organization of any candidate, and it cannot all be run by volunteers. Not to mention travel and TV ads that need to be financed.

Bush has big bucks, and we will need them too, in order to defeat him. Dean should opt out, and go for broke!
