I agree that they will become more and more important, but probably less and less "Democrat" as time goes on. If we regain either the white house or the Senate, I'm sure these kind of organizations would still act as watchdogs against government excess.

If they'd been in place during the Clinton administration, for example, I'm sure they would have taken issue with NAFTA, the WTO, etc.
