Well, I'll be damned.

I'm sorry if this sounds belligerent, but I'll believe that when I see it officially, and probably not even then. While I normally trust imdb explicitly, I have a really hard time believing that Douglas Adams was the principle architect behind this movie. Besides, even if he had a hand in the original screenplay, who's to say someone else (for instance, co-writer Stanley Kirkpatrick, and/or director Garth Jennings) didn't change everything between Adams' death and the start of filming?

And please note that I'm not saying the author of the final version of the screenplay wasn't familiar with the book/radio series. I imagine he actually knew the story reasonably well, but decided to take the movie in a completely different direction, keeping just a few memorable bits here and there to make it look faithful. The end result gives the impression that he didn't understand the source material, when in fact he simply disregarded it.

I hope I'm making sense. No, really, I do hope that. It's 2am here and I'm barely awake...
