Monica Lewinsky today laid down the gauntlet to Presidential hopeful Howard Dean for his disparaging comments about former President Bill Clinton and the Democratic Leadership Council, the organization Clinton founded to power him to the White House. Dean as much as stated that Clinton was out of touch with today's political reality and that the DLC was the "Republican wing of the Democratic Party."
"Howard Dean is a awful little person that should go back to the woods or whatever," Lewinsky stated in no uncertain terms as she hurried along rainy Rodeo Drive with an umbrella and holiday packages and a pink poodle. "Bill Clinton was the best President that I or the nation have ever had," Lewinsky declared, "and the DLC was a brilliant mechanism to gather moderate and swing votes at a time that the Democratic base had shrunk to dangerous levels. To call the DLC the Republican wing of the Democratic Party is like calling Rousseau's followers the Republican Wing of the French Revolution. It's not only outrageous, it borders on calumny or something."
Lewinsky brushed off questions about running for a political office of her own some day. "For all things, there is a season, turn, turn turn," she said with a sly wink. Then she returned to the Dean comments: "It just gets my goat that Mr. Governor Doctor Howard Know-It-All can get everybody upset all the time. Bill Clinton had the incredible knack to calm people down and feel their feelings for them and make people think everything was all right even when it wasn't. If Howard Dean was twice the man Bill Clinton was, I still wouldn't go out with him." At that, Lewinsky jumped in her red 2004 Hummer and sped off into the wet Beverly Hills evening. --------------- I'm not sure exactkly where I heard this. I have several radios and TVS and ticker-tapes going all at once, and am usually on the phone with several advisers and consultants simultaneously. I believe I heard her being interviwed and all I could do was take it down with a dull pencil on the back of a nearby Christmas card. More likely soon from CNN, etc.
