came from a figure from American history more American's should be aware of in my opinion. There is much made of people motivated in part by their religious faith to do good works or contributed in some significant way to the physical and cultural building and development of this nation. Not enough attention given to the very significant role, skeptics and secularists have contributed in history lessons.
Robert Ingersoll was as important a figure as any of the early milionares and philanthropists of the same time period and a very good spokesman for promoting secularism and humanist ideals.
And the quote is one I read again not to long ago and thought it expressed extremely well the importance of seculariism and why it is a moral and good approach to building a society that is productive, compassionate and happy.
