17. I had the same experience. I'm a 6'1" woman who once weighed 190
I was a size 18, and being so tall I was self-conscious most of my life. Now of course, this would not be considered fat, but in the 70s and 80s I was a real freak of nature--no clothes fit me except old lady clothes. Nothing cute for women who looked like me! When I finally got down to my right weight about 15 years ago, I was stunned at how differently everyone treated me. I even married a cute, younger man who was one of those DB's that hated fat women--yeah, Freud would have a field day!

Anyway, I did divorce the superficial ex, but I also vowed I'd never be heavy again. I say: be careful what you wish for! Now post menopause, I can't keep weight on, and have no resources as to how to gain it healthily! Yesterday I got on the scale and I weight 139!!! Part of me would love to lose even more, but guess what? Once you get older, you can't be skinny like this. You have far less muscle mass and instead of looking hot, you're saggy and flabby! Oh, the cosmic irony!!

Anyway, I know this has been said before, but this is the hard truth: Screw what the world thinks of how you look! I've been on both sides of the coin, I know I'm still the same fabulous person regardless of a few pounds here or there.

You all are, too!!!
