Why are some coldcuts square, some round?

I know that back in the day, things like bologna were actually cut from tube-shaped stuffed casings, but I doubt they do that any longer. So, why are some things like ham luncheon meat packaged as square and others like turkey lunch meat circular? Doesn't square make a lot more sense for sandwiches?

Also, I've discovered that Kroger Big K cola tastes as good or better than regular Coke, and is a lot less expensive. (does have 20 more calories per can though) Important information for surviving in George Bush's economy.
