Doesn't matter if his dad's "over the top" or not as long as it's not abusive.

Every parent has hot buttons, and kids learn how to push them. That's just the way it is. Parents can't be perfect and take a step back every time a kid pushes their buttons.

But isn't it funny how it's so much easier to deal with someone else's kid? In my house the "I'm not hungry" roll-the-eyes routine would be dead in the water.

I'd pleasantly say, "Okay," while I'd obviously be thinking, Cool, I can get anything I want... (It helps that my kids HATE some of the foods I like.)
