87. "specifically blaming homosexuals for all the country's ills..."
Huh?

Where did that conclusion come from?

In fact, you can set up all the out-of-context straw-man quotes you want, and keep knocking them down till doomsday, but what does that prove?

What a pack of whiners. Maybe I didn't express myself as clearly as I should have, but the original purpose of my logging in here was *not* to try and defend any *specific* comments quoted in the original post.

I just found it disturbing that the (once) universally welcoming, wide-wide tent of the democratic party seemed to be collapsing inward a little bit.

S p e c i f i c a l l y... that a lot of socially conservative black folks and (most all y'all representing yourselves in this thread) appear to be having some fundamental differences on rights issues. I was seeing it a few months ago in my local congressional campaign, and couldn't expect much good to come from it. It's not likely to be helpful for the future of the party, or next year's campaigns, or those in the years to follow.

No amount of bile or vomit spewed here is likely to ameliorate that, and that's the fact, Jack.

But that's my own agenda, my priority. I'm not really that thin-skinned when it comes to the 'horrors' of alleged hate speech. Big freakin' deal.

Personally, like a lot of others, I'm also not that impressed with the strained historical comparisons to black and Native American civil rights struggles. I mean, how many centuries did the po' same-sex affectional preference folks pick cotton? Or even worse, cut Caribbean or Bahian sugarcane? How many millions and millions, how many whole populations of indigenous tribesfolk have been lost?

What is the common denominator for any sort of cultural identity?

...I'm just trying to honestly admit that (forget Reggie White), I guess *I'm* pretty ignorant, and ill-informed. Didn't really mean to trip anyone's gag reflex...
