5. I got the same cookbook three years in a row from my father.

Then we stopped doing the present thing.

He got me the "America's Best Brand Name" Cookbook for my 17th, 18th and 19th Christmases. The fact that I lived in the dorms, had no access to a real cooking facility, and was living on produce and instant foods from the Asian grocery, the products of my rice cooker, the microwave and what little was edible from the dorms seems to have passed him by, as well as the fact that I was too poor to pay for name branded anything!

Needless to say, it was odd.
