lots of varibles: tanning processes, some better than others, some more some less oder, and the territiorial bent of dog individuals...

Had a dog that would pee on sister's boyfriend's jacket, whether leather or not. Just didn't like the guy. Turned out, sis should have trusted dog's judgement.

Leather tanning is a strange and smelly process. Dogs and particularly cats, can find the whole thing offensive. Would be careful about investing in leather furniture if you have this problem with a dog or cat and coat/boots ;)
