30. Aparently it didn't work in the subject line for you either.

"畜生" seems to indicate something like "born of an animal" ("animal existence"?). So I guess it's akin to "son of a bitch". It's generally used as an expletive (of exasperation), rather than an epithet directed at a person. I know nothing about Chinese or Korean, but Japanese is remarkably deficient in cuss words. As you say, it's the tone of voice. A related expletive is: "エー糞" ("eh kuso")", which is something like "aw shit!".

I know absolutely nothing about Mac OS, other than it's supposed to have better Japanes language support than Windows. On a related note, I recently installed a Japanese language support in my PDA (Sony TH-55, Palm OS 5), that seems to work very nicely.

I just tested my Paul Wellstone sig-line, and it still works!! I've been passing it around for the past two years, and have watched it myself countless times. (I'll probably watch it again today).

On edit: I just realized you were referring to 七転び八起き, rather than my Paul Wellstone memorial link. It's a nice phrase, and well worth bearing in mind ... ESPECIALLY during the present times.
