16. It is truly my heaven on Earth...

We used to live in a suburb of Philly, where 5 acres with an old farmhouse (usually with one bathroom) was $400,000-$500,000 (!). We moved to the county just northwest of where we used to live and got lucky - 12 acres and a 10 year old Colonial. The sellers had had two deals fall through because of freak incidents, and were very anxious to sell - we got such a deal. It's absolute heaven, and has an amazing view to boot!

We only have 2 horses now - a Friesian gelding and an adopted Morgan gelding. My mother would love a Rocky Mountain horse, since she's older now we don't ride too much and she needs a smoother riding horse for her bad back.

Our first horse was an Arab cross and was the absolute BEST horse. She was absolutely fantastic and bombproof...I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience; was he very green? Our second horse was an Appaloosa, and she started out very nutty, but we suspect she had been abused (her previous owners ran a puppy mill - yuck). She ended up being an equally amazing horse. We've been so fortunate with our horses.

Willyou look into buying another horse sometime soon? I think it's wonderful to raise kids with horses - my Mom had me riding from the time I was old enough to hold myself up in the saddle :)
