25. You should hear "Drummer Boy" in Spanish...
It's strange, because I've always understood that it was written by a Hollywood songwriter in the 50s, but I can't help wondering if he actually "borrowed" a Spanish song. My wife knows the Spanish version, and it's stunning. Not only are the lyrics totally different (far less "rum-pum-pum-pum"ing), but they seem to fit the tune better as well. I can imagine the Spanish being original, and a hack songwriter butchering the words in churning out an English-language version, but I can't imagine a Spanish translator taking the English version, and coming up with a rendition in that language that so improves on it.
