Worse in some ways - a lot of the porn we take for granted here is illegal to sell in the UK. I forget the title, but I saw a book about British prudishness a few years ago. There are ancient hillside chalk drawings made by pre-Roman pagan inhabitants. Some of them feature prominent phalluses. It was standard practice for a long time to cover up the penises.
And remember the big flap about Princess Di being photographed topless? She was in France or somewhere, where topless sunbathing is the norm (as it is in much of western Europe), but when the picture hit the UK it was a scandal.
