I can only tell you this: It has taken me fifteen years to trade in all my cassette tapes for CDs (and I don't have an IPod or download music online). I am STILL not entirely finished upgrading my VHS collection to DVDs or "remastered" or "Director's Cut" DVDs, which are still going on the market even as I write this.

Maybe I'm just getting old or too frugal, but there is no way in the world that I am ever going to go through the process of trading up for yet another format.

I will probably just horde DVD players, so that as they break I'll have another handy.

Screw Blue Ray, especiall in this economy. My propane bills this winter are averaging $500 a month.

: If I were younger, say, still in college or didn't have a very large collection of DVDs I might consider upgrading; however, that is not my situation.

And does anyone remember MiniDisc? I invested heavily in that technology, and it went nowhere. It seemed brilliant at the time!
