16. George and Prince
We got the dog, Prince, on a day when Mom and I were supposed to be out shopping for a computer. We made a detour in a pet store, and fell in love with the little pup. We walked out of there with him that night.

George was a rescue. A girl brought this little skin & bones kitten into my work, and asked if anyone could take him. Apparently he was found at a party the night before. Some sick kids wanted to throw him in the pool :grr:. She couldn't keep him because her cats were beating him up. This was shortly after my last dog had died, so I was still in mourning, and our family had never owned a cat (my parents always refused). So of course, I said "What the hell, I'll take him." He nearly got us both killed twice on the way home when he got out of his box, climbed onto the dashboard, and then managed to wiggle his way under the brake.

George hated Prince when we brought him home. He had been king of the house for 2 years. Now the two are inseparable.

Sorry to hear about your cat :(.
