No I'm not totally flabbergasted by your post. The fascists/corporatist power structure is firmly entrenched and supported by both parties, and our politicians are scared shitless of their power and afraid of the people also. Its just all about fear. The average voter is a misinformed dolt who only cares about a paycheck and football games. This culture of ignorance is promulgated by the media for the fascists/corporatist state. You must remember that we are not dealing with reality here, but with a state sponsored religion with canons such as "free enterprise", "rugged individualism" and "grred is good". Capitalism is a religion and the leaders are just the preachers and bishops. It knows it can't survive rationality so it uses emotion. Lee Atwater is a great example when he told Republicans they can't win on the issues, so we got God, guns and gays. The churches of America merely support the status quo because thats the side their Bread is buttered on.
We will never make the progress and change we need until we become a rational nation. Over forty years of experience in civil rights, workers rights and progressive politics has shown me a lot of slime under a lot of rocks. We lefties are just as guilty at times willing to go along and eat shit to get the leftovers from the fascist banquet. We have never been able to mount any threat to either party
in my lifetime. the green party is a bad joke, the various socialist parties are largely debating societies and constantly fighting with each other. Speaking of ratioality even DU has a dam astrology group. This is the kind of bullshit that is not harmless. Idiots can say its because of the stars and shrug it off and not look at the real cause and effect.
In order to change things we need better education for all. Quite simply we are a third world country mired is superstition(religion). Many on the left are just as bad and merely trying to enforce their non-factual "beliefs" on the rest of us.
