Mother fires gun to protect 5 kids

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - "I keep a firearm in this house because it has happened in other houses in this neighborhood. I never knew if it could be me," said Janelle Johnson.

{snip}

Her deadbolt did not protect her when she heard the knocking, but her pistol did. "I was sitting in my room on the computer. I heard someone knocking on the door. Next thing you know, I heard a lot of force coming into the door. When I got up to see what was going on, the door was kicked open, so I just grabbed my gun and started firing," said Johnson.

{snip}

"All my kids were in the house sleeping, and I didn't want anything to happen to my children," said Johnson.

{snip}

"Probably a little safer. People will probably think twice before they kick in the door of this house again," said Johnson. "I did what I had to do to defend my family."

I'm glad she was prepared and aware enough to defend herself, her family and her home.
