CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Police were searching Tuesday for a man believed to be part of a trio that killed a convenience store worker with a knife, robbed a woman in the drive-thru lane at one restaurant and attempted to rob a woman at another.

The other alleged members of the trio, both women, were in custody after police caught them early Tuesday, said Capt. John Moseley. They had not yet been charged.

Investigators said Pablo Castro, 46, was fatally stabbed late Monday after being cornered as he took out the trash. Lt. Kenneth Ersland said Castro, who had been employed at the store for 10 years, was robbed of $1.25. He said witnesses told police that two of the attackers repeatedly kicked Castro after he had been stabbed.

Moseley said the suspects did not try to rob the store.

Ersland said a vigil was held for Castro at the store Tuesday night. He described Castro, who worked as a stocker and did other jobs at the store, as the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back. Castro and his wife have three children, he said.
