Adopt a Republican today

LOL, before you tell me to go F myself, I don't mean all repukes, just a certain very few of them and here's what I mean. I think this can help our cause, and we don't have to lean toward the right to do it.

First let me say I've had numerous repuke friends in my life, and I'll bet some of you have, too. After such a bitter election as this, I despised each and every one of them. Many of them I realized I have so little in common with that it's not worth taking the time to be friends with them anymore. To those I don't mind saying, "So long!" However, there are a couple of republican friends of mine where our friendship is such a powerful quality that it can overcome most political differences we might have. A couple of them have been very close friends, and as long as we're still friends, I'm going to do everything under the sun to wake them up. Without overdoing it or making a pain of myself, I've been "working" on one of these guys for a couple weeks now - whenever we've gotten together for a beer, or coffee, or a hike, or dinner out with our wives, or whatever...and ya know what? I think he's starting to come around.

There are things you can do if you know someone like this who you're close to. Talk briefly to them about the war. Talk about a new Bush atrocity each and every time you meet with this friend until it starts sinking in. Talk about what's happening to the environment if they like the outdoors. Talk to them about the deficit and how it'll affect their kids if they have children. Email them a copy of that wonderful letter from the thread entitled "An explanation of a vote for Kerry AWESOME LETTER" which you'll find right here on the forum today. Talk to them about Air America in the unfortunate circumstance that they listen to right wing radio. Convince them just once to try listening to an hour of Air America as a favor to you. Take time to print off a relevant article for them, only make sure that it's precise. All this takes only a little time and patience, but ya know what? I've noticed a change in just a short amount of time. It's actually fun brainwashing the truth into him or her, and hopefully they'll emerge out of this a democrat, or someday maybe even a liberal. They just need to see your passion.

Just think if we all converted someone we know. It could have a powerful snowball effect. Do any of you have that one certain repub friend who you just can't turn your back on? Someone who you can visualize as being a liberal with a little bit of effort? "Adopt" them now if you think you do, and give it a try. You might be surprised.
