Lord, Have mercy, the mother load: A letter from Nancy Pelosi.

My letter to my friend Nancy follows her letter to me. See my tag for the executive summary.

Dear Friend,

Last November, the American people rejected years of Republican special-interest policies and misplaced priorities and put Democrats in charge of Congress. But, this was just the critical first step toward leading America in a new direction.

Now, we need your help to finish the job.

When I took the gavel as Speaker, I did so in the spirit of partnership -- to pursue policies that provide the American people with economic and national security that build upon the ideals and the values that make our nation great.

Democrats are working hard every day to build a bipartisan movement to set a new course in Iraq, address the long-neglected needs of America's working families and restore faith in our government. And in the U.S. House of Representatives, our Democratic majority has already passed landmark legislation breaking the link between lobbyists and legislation, making our nation safer and our economy fairer, expanding access to health care and higher education and standing up to * to oppose his dangerous and reckless escalation of the war in Iraq.

But, despite these successes, we still face an uphill battle getting many of our reforms past *'s veto.

To deliver on our commitment to the American people, House Democrats need your help to strengthen our majority and pave the way to help put a Democrat back in the White House. That's why I'm asking you to stand with our new House majority by joining the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) today.

Because you are a loyal Democrat, I have taken the liberty of enclosing your official DCCC membership card, which I hope you will carry with pride as we tackle the difficult challenges ahead. Please take a moment now to detach your card from your DCCC membership confirmation form -- and then return the form with your generous DCCC membership contribution of $15, $25, $35 or even $50 right away.

Our Democratic majority in the U.S. House of Representatives urgently needs your support to implement our plan to move America forward.

In the first 100 hours of the 110th Congress, House Democrats have already passed legislation to implement the 9/11 Commission recommendations ... raise the minimum wage ... invest in promising stem cell research ... lower the cost of prescription drug prices by allowing the government to negotiate with drug companies on behalf of seniors in Medicare .. cut the interest rate on federal student loans in half ... and roll back multi-billion-dollar subsidies to Big Oil to fund development of alternative energy sources.

And despite *'s promise to work with the Democratic Congress, he continues to ignore our call for change and is pursuing the same failed policies roundly rejected by the American people last November when they elected a Democratic majority to Congress.

The only way to guarantee that the Democratic blueprint for change is put into action is to win big again in 2008 -- strengthening and securing our Democratic majority to advance our agenda.

That's why the DCCC needs your immediate help so we can give our 2008 candidates the early support they need to win.

As the official campaign arm of Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives, the DCCC is America's only political committee primarily dedicated to electing Democrats to the House to stand up for the best interests of the American people.

Your generous support will help House Democrats step up our fight for the positive changes that America needs -- and put the Republicans on notice that the time has passed when they could overwhelm Democrats with a tidal wave of special-interest money. You will also enable the DCCC to strengthen our House majority in 2008 by recruiting the strongest possible challengers to take on vulnerable Republican incumbents.

With your help, our strengthened Democratic House majority will build on the success of our 100 Hours Agenda and move forward to lead America in a new direction by:

* Opposing *'s escalation of the war in Iraq and charting a new direction that gets our troops home quickly and safely.

* Taking swift action to put the brakes on global warming and achieve energy independence.

* Defeating any attempt to privatize Social Security.

To reach these goals, we are drawing on the traditional strengths of the Democratic Party -- our unwavering dedication to putting the interests of ordinary Americans ahead of greedy special interests and the knowledge that committed Democrats like you will stand with our Party.

So please do your part to enact our Democratic agenda for change -- by joining the DCCC with your generous contribution of $15, $25, $35, $50 or more today.

Thank you for supporting House Democrats at this critical time.

Sincerely,
Nancy Pelosi
Speaker of the House of Representatives

P.S. Our historic 2006 Democratic election victory was just the first step toward moving America in a positive new direction. Now we must follow through by enacting the bold agenda for change that swept us into power. Please let me know that my Democratic House colleagues and I can count on your help -- by joining the DCCC today with your most generous gift possible. Thank you.

Here's my letter back to my friend, Nancy.

Dear Nancy:

It is so good to hear from you. We've been calling you with an important message, but a lot of us cannot get through to you because we are not in your district. But, at least you took the time to write.

I'm afraid that I cannot keep enabling the enablers of the * Administration with a financial contribution at this time. I was so pleased to contribute during the 2006 election cycle because I thought there would be noticeable change in America. We are still occupying Iraq. We are still spied on by our government. Habeas Corpus is suspended. Detention centers are being built. The president continues to erode the Constitution, you know, what he called that "GD piece of paper" with executive orders to do such things as seizing a person's finances for protesting Iraq.

I could go on, but I don't want to bother you with life outside the gated community. You're a busy woman. But, you know how it is when you have a bad hair day? It's just that the bad day has gone on since 2000 when the Supreme Court stopped the counting of the votes in Florida or else "Candidate * would suffer irreparable harm." Other countries call this a coup d'état.

I do congratulate you on the first 100 legislative hours, though. Especially that part about 9/11 Commission recommendations because we may get to test those out. I don't know if you listen to Thom Hartmann, but he had a former Reagan official on his show and he said he thought the administration was going to let another attack occur on this country so that we rally behind him and the GOP again. I know that's tin foil hat material, but a growing number of us no longer believe the government's official conspiracy theory about 9/11.

Now, back to the matter at hand. That is, your trying to separate me from my money. Nancy, it's a poor return on investment. I'm all in favor of a big win in 2008. Have you considered using the collected evidence against this administration to turn the last 25% of the people against this administration and in so doing, insure massive Democratic victories in 2008?. Not to mention doing your job by upholding and protecting the Constitution. Remember that oath? It was to the Constitution, not to political expediency or the easy road. You'd have to get up on the impeachment table first, but you have a lot of people -- bipartisan support in the language you speak -- who would give you a hand up there.

And, Nancy, this is the kicker. If you first get behind HR 333 and remove Cheney -- who really is the president -- then you don't have to worry about the line of succession dilemma when you turn your attention to our king. Cheney is such a miserable creature, with approval ratings down as low as Congress' ratings now. The public could get behind removing Cheney when the evidence already collected shows all the mayhem that he's been behind. Besides, going after both * and Cheney together causes "how it looks" problems for you -- being that your 3rd in line and all.

Nancy, before I close, just one more point. Troops are dying everyday. So are Iraqi citizens just because they have the gaul to have our oil beneath their feet. You could end the occupation by removing those who keep it going. You could stop the assaults on the Constitution by removing from office those who keep abusing it. You could show the world that the American people do not agree with what this administration has done in its name and for their profit by bringing them before Congress with impeachment and a trial.

Get on that impeachment table.

Sincerely,
davidwparker
