" General Clark, your supporters at DU

send their love and support," I said as I thrust my hand over the shoulders of the man in front of me. He looked at me with a puzzled look in his eyes, you know the one. The one that is usually followed by the comment, "You wacko", then his eyes widened and softened and he grinned at me and told me to tell you all thank you. First I have to get this silly bit out of the way. He is stunningly gorgeous up close. He is a lot smaller than I thought, shorter and very slight and he has the softest hands. He grins and his eyes light up and he is a beauty all right. Enough of that.

The annual Ad Astra dinner for the party in Kansas was tonight. My husband and I had never been. I ran into my friend who used to be the chairman of our party. He was just standing there stunned. He had never seen so many there. It was standing room only folks, in Kansas of all places. Part of that was of course General Clark being there but everyone is committed as hell and ready to work.

The speech was pretty much parts of what we had heard before but instead of saying he would do it he said Kerry would do it. Was it called the 4 point platform? I can't remember from before but he delivered it with a strong but hoarse voice and I couldn't count the times he was stopped by a standing ovation. It was whooping time in old Topeka tonight. He was remarkable to listen to. Because of short time and a late flight it was not too long but very impassioned and I had a blast. I now have my very own 4 stars and some pictures that I will post once I get that all set up.

As someone who was very worried that he was a republican plant I came around slowly to him but I did come around. Tonight I can say with certainty that he is one of us and a very good one of us and I am proud to be on the same side he is on.

I was up at 4AM this morning to take my son to his conservatory audition so I am going to close this up. I fear I am not able to do the event justice but I wanted to let you know. I shook his hand and looked in his eyes and clapped until my hands are sore. What a wonderful man and a wonderful night.

Oh yes, THANKS to WesDem. I owe you.
