as will Kentucky, and that's all there is to it.
Those who say, like Hillary, that a Democrat has never won the office without winning West Virginia need to keep this in mind; this election year has and will continue to be full of "firsts", so this will just be another one!
The fact that WV is voting for Hillary, far as I know, has more to do with those West Virgina's long standing infatuation with serial adulterer Arkansan Bill Clinton than with racism.
Unfortunately, the media and the Hillary campaign want to turn this vote, that is an affirmative for Hillary, into an issue centering around race. This is for the sake of frightening the Super Delegates as well as Democrats, on the issue of Obama's melanin, because it helps Hillary make her case (although polls show that there are more who will not vote for her due to her sex). Please know that we are helping here at DU contribute to that "set up", with our constant discussions on racism, West Virginia, etc....., instead of understanding that it is what it is, whatever that is, and calling it a day.
The media's job today is to discuss the race issue at length again, because it suits them to bring Obama's prospect down, which they are now still desperately trying to do. That's what they do, and that is what they had done with their circular pastorbating a week back, and a few months ago.
The new tact, since Pastorbating didn't catch on as a fad is to now share a few examples of voters saying that Obama is too Black and such, in order to further feed the false perception that realistically, a Black man still cannot become President. The media and Hillary hope and pray that enough Obama supporters buy into it and hesitate to allow him this win that he has earned.
Personally, I do not believe that the reports of racism are as rampant, and I believe that they are the exception rather than the rule.
I'm not saying that West Virginia doesn't have a large share of racists (and others states do as well), I'm just saying that those people are operating based on fear of the unknown, and that is their right to be that frightened if it helps them "cope". Hillary is a known to them, and that's why they are voting for her. I also read somewhere that some women where voting for Hillary because she is a woman, and although they understand that Obama has won it, they want the experience of being able to feel like they voted for a woman.
To add, I went to the Beauty Salon today, and please know that the Black Obama supporters that I spoke to (we were watching the view on the salon's television in where they were discussing the primary race) said (most of them anyway), that if Hillary got it by hook or crook, they would not be voting for her in November. Two women said that they could "hang" with McCain't, because instead of their vote being taken for granted, maybe their Black vote would be appreciated and maybe even revered and catered to.
So in the end, after everything is said and done, Obama will become the 44th President of the United States, because the bullshit that your read and see, ain't exactly what it is.
America is ready for a President who happens to be Black, because after living through George Bush, we know that we need an extreme change from where we've been, and that a 72 year old warmonging anti choice Senator just isn't gonna do it.
WELCOME TO THE YEAR 2008 IN THE 21ST CENTURY.
THAT'S WHEN AMERICA WILL TELL THE WORLD,
WE'RE BACK
