This is such a powerful, moving letter! I have a cousin who lives in Manhattan. She has a husband, a lawyer, and two babies. Every time I hear of anything going on there, I think of her and her family. There was that helicopter crash earlier this year.

I live in the DC area. My wife used to take the subway to work everyday and I always feared for her safety. Thank goodness she's retired and I don't have to worry about that now. There was a subway accident the other day.

I love the tone of her letter. The people in the reddish states simply don't know the folks in the bluish ones. Our realities are very different. Nothing much happens where they live except for the OK bombing, tornadoes and hurricanes yet they're the people who fear those who seem a bit different from them. Why is that?

We need to get to know each other a little better before the next election. We also need to have a better election system next time.
