42. And now for a serious answer
1. Outrage is how they keep their base together. People like to feel like victims and blame others for their problems. They like to feel righteous. If you're angry at someone, then you're better than them because you know what's right and they did something wrong.

2. It keeps their base irrational, so that they don' realize what they're being told is complete BS and that they're screwing themselves over by voting for these guys.

3. REAL reporters don't scream, whine, yell, rage, go on tirades, etc...but the right-wing fascist press do.
