5. My guess is that the media owners are the big winners of the
payola and it's unlikely to be something as traceable as big checks.
There are many other ways to get the money to them, i.e. political
policies profitable to the owners. The reporters who are hired by the paid off owners just know up front what they are supposed to say otherwise they wouldn't have gotten the jobs in the first place.

The CIA has boasted for years that they had the media in their back pockets.
