He's almost impossible to attack. Attacks just don't stick to him.
Edwards resonates with voters, because he can personalize his life story with his policies, creating a very powerful message. His training as a trial lawyer taught him how to create thematic messages that resonate in both the head and the heart.
Plus, Edwards will destroy the rethugs when they come after him for being a "trial lawyer" - they tried it in '98 and he beat them over the head with the truth. As a lawyer, he worked for people, not corporations, and he has clients who are more than happy to back him up on that.
In addition, Edwards is arguably an outsider.
If Edwards gets the nom, and picks a VP with national security experience, I believe he will be unbeatable.
