8. It will vary
Some will maintain vigils. Some will go home.

What concerns me is that the media's fixation with this story -- an attempt to bolster Bush's religious agenda? -- has served to highly agitate an already highly volatile and hotheaded group of people. Already there have been disturbing incidents, that have fortunately been foiled, which have involved threats of violence or death upon some of the players in the case. This is not going to be the end of it.

While some of the folk involved are truly devoted to the pro-life cause, some of these folk are militants or potential vigilantes. The media has irresponsibly made this the New Waco -- and I predict there will be fallout from this, as there was from Waco. The various redneck militias may find a mission in this -- they certainly operate in the area; there is also presence of people from militia strongholds, like NC and Idaho. While most of these folk are going to go home and pray, some of these people are going to go home and build bombs. I know that these groups were not monitored by the Ashcroft Justice Dept; perhaps Gonzalez will ask DoJ to stand down too, even though I know the FBI has a lot of information on these groups and many individuals.

Something will happen, and CNN will cover it, and never even think about their role in fanning the flames of violent extremists. There is no such thing as a "lone nut" -- they usually operate within a social context that pretty much condones their violent actions, and there is a lot of passion here....
