64. OMG! You are so right!
And it is doubtless Laura's influence that has him at least trying (or pretending) to read now. I had noticed that too, how he'd say, "I was reading this book the other day..." and then say something about what the book had taught him or how it had reinforced his own thinking or supported what he already thought. If you can call what he does "thinking." Haha.

IMO, people like W "use" everything and everyone around them to pump themselves up or make others think they are great. W announces that he is "loyal" as if he thinks that is nothing but a virtue, no question about it. When in fact, being loyal to someone who has done something very bad is not a virtue at all, but a failure to assess or re-assess one's decisions.

I also believe W did that "reverse perp walk" with Karl Rove across the White House lawn today to show his loyalty while avoiding having to answer any questions. I have a feeling that something George is thinking about as he goes to sleep nights right now is, "What on earth would I do without Karl if I have to get rid of him? He's kept my ass out of a sling more times than I can count. He's made me look smart and good. Without him, I'll be in deep doodoo for sure!"

Makes me grin just to think of it.... :D
