13. these are the things that we need to run with
These are the issues that we need to run with. For example, instead of privatizing social security let's raise the FICA tax limit from 90,000 to 1 million. That way social security will always be funded. Social security is really a "legacy tax". Our fathers paid for their fathers, and we are paying for our parents. It's a good thing.

I want to provide basic health insurance for everyone because it makes sense. Right now people without health insurance are going to the emergency room and it ends up costing us more money. They should be able to go to a clinic and get the minor stuff taken care of there. That way it won't cost as much.

I do care about people and I want to see that everyone is taken care of. But if you think about it, it just makes more sense to provide universal health care. It also makes sense to raise the minimum wage. If people at the low to middle end of the spectrum make more money then they will be less likely to need to be on government assistance. I thought that is something that the Republicans wanted, isn't it?

The perfect way to reduce spending by the pentagon is to provide oversight into how money is spent in Iraq. How is it that civilians here make over 100,000 while soldiers here make a third of that? Also, the cold war is over. Why are we still in Germany? We need to get our people out of Germany. That would save a bunch of money as well.

We as democrats need to stop with all of the name calling and set an agenda to fix this country. America is a great place, and we can lead this country into the 21st century.

ps. For 2008 we need to have a candidate who is not from the northeast. We need to make sure that it's someone who is more moderate than Kerry is, and someone that can relate to the majority of Americans. (i.e. Bill Richardson from New Mexico, Al Gore, or John Edwards)
