that Republicans take advantage of people, who having giving up believing either party would fix the economic mess, use issues like gun control, abortion, and God, to pander to these people. They go to evangelicals and get their pastors to subtly suggest to it's congregation, vote Roe V. Wade, or they tell them how the devil democrats want to take God out of school and the country. They appeal to emotional things that way they're distracted enough when time to pass out hunks of money to their rich friends shows up on the agenda in Congress.

And deny it if you will, they vote on those things because they think that those issues might be addressed long before their economic problems will be. All he did was call them out on it, and you know what, people are desperate right now. The economy is getting worse by the day, and for that reason, they ARE seeing through the usual political garbage. This year they will vote economic interest because their backs are against the wall.

Funny thing is, President Clinton ran on this same thing, and he was right, just as Barack is now. Was he equally offensive?? He acknowledged the wedge issues. And you can sit here all day long and declare people offended, but they're not. If anything, they're in shock a politician is finally telling the truth. That's why this won't work.. He already warned them on the game John McCain plans to play, and people are saying, "Not this time!"

People are hanging on the edge of a cliff in this country and they're not going to be hoodwinked this time. Because unlike you, Barack and I know, that people are SMART enough to take a look at what's been going on for the last 20 - 30 years... you seem to imply that they are stupid enough to miss the point of his comments, but instead will have the same knee-jerk reaction that you seem to be having. Are you calling those rural voters stupid?? How elitist and condescending!
