9. Here is why:

Republicans and Republican-leaners do not CARE what the other side has to say. Period. When the dems win, they win because they got a huge democratic base out and the INDs helped out, the repubs almost never vote democratic. It doesn't work the other way, though. Dems quite often vote Republican if their candidate is simply far superior. This has not happened in a long time though, 84 probably being the last time.
