35. olbermann's music
back in the 1960s, one of the most respected television news programs was Huntley Brinkley. Their theme music was the opening measures of Beethoven's 9th Symphony 4th movement. I noticed tonight watching that Olbermann clip he uses the first four notes, or so, of the Beethoven 9th last movement. (mea maxima culpa, i confess i have not watched olbermann's show, not since he left LA sports many years ago).

i recommend you listen to beethoven's 9th all the way through, get a sense of the magnificence alluded to by quoting it this way. the lyric is called the "ode to joy" and contains these key words:

Thy magic power re-unites
All that custom has divided,
All men become brothers
Under the sway of thy gentle wings.

recommended.
