8. In a way this is good for Obama and for our chances to ultimately make real changes.
The shitier the shape the Repukes leave the country in the better the chance that Obama can propose and get through real changes to the country. For example, if many more people lose their health insurance because of lost jobs the more likely he can cut through opposition to univeral health care.

Additionally average Americans are more able to see the true color of Republicans as a group of people that use ideology to trump common sense in their view of the world.

There is no way FDR could have made the great changes he ended up making if Hoover had not wrecked the country so badly, and the same may well be true here as well. It is sad that so many people must suffer under the yoke of the Republicans but I try to be optimistic that in the end it will work for the common good.
