Joe Biden becomes VP--the job he wanted and almost EXPECTED for his loyalty. Joe Biden, FWIW, was the one who turned the Clintons on to the Vineyard as a vacation spot (and he probably talked the Obamas into trying it out, too). The Bidens and the Clintons used to vacation together often during the Clinton years and later--a fact that didn't hit the news. They're very old and good friends.

Hillary Clinton became SECSTATE--the other job he wanted. See, people who fuck over their friends, well, they're just not to be trusted. They don't get those key positions!
