And the proposed anemic "public option", as has been scored, has no power to change that. A major threat that carried a big weight maybe could.

Who knows. Id rather do away with it all and see Medicare for All. Thats not going to happen. A real public option probably wont either (and it wont even start till 2013 at this rate). I just think a "trigger" could replace an active shitty public option with a potential threat of a public option that would devastate the private insurance industry.

On the otherhand, it depends on who is crafting the bill (IOW, could you really trust a trigger being pulled due to criteria being easy to meet?). If the current course gives you any indication, the trigger would be designed to never be pulled, and if so, it would deliver a meaningless option. Im not too hopeful either way really.
