Rivera wins ACC runoff
Advertisements [?]
Veronica Rivera handily won a runoff election in the Austin, Leander, Manor and Del Valle school districts Saturday for a spot on the Austin Community College Board of Trustees.

Rivera received 3,574 votes, or 62.7 percent of the 5,702 ballots cast, and Marc Levin received 2,128 votes in the race for the Place 6 seat held by Beverly Silas, who did not seek re-election.

Del Valle voters participated for the first time after residents voted in May to join ACC's district. That decision entitles Del Valle school district students to a 50 percent discount on tuition.

Rivera, 36, who works at a Round Rock law firm, and Levin, 28, a staff lawyer for the Texas Supreme Court, were the top vote-getters in the May 15 election, with Rivera drawing 31.9 percent of the vote and Levin receiving 29.8 percent.

Thanks to all who voted or turned out the vote to defeat Marc Levin, who was a dangerous Rethug stealth candidate.
