Then it must be remembered that a short two years previous to Wellstone's death another liberal democrat Mel Carnahan was running against a Bushista, John Ashcroft, when his plane crashed. As fate would have it Ashcroft lost to the deceased Carnahan showing, among other things that a dead Democrat, when all else is equal, is more desirable than a live Republican in Minnesota. But Ashcroft then was left to take on the job of US AG for Bush. But Carnhan's death was not the only plane "accident" death of a Democrat that benefited Ashcroft. In 1976 James Litton was running against Missouri State AG John Danforth for the Senator seat and expected to win "in a landslide victory" when he died in a plane crash. When Danforth left the AG's office Ashcroft took his place..... But then there are twelve other politicians, eleven opposed to a conservative agenda who have died in mysterious crashes.....even John Tower who Bush worked for at time of JFK assasination, but who was working on Iran Contra case ....... Kind of closes the loop doesn't it.

Since 1971, twelve plane crashes have killed eight prominent Democrats, compared to five prominent Republicans-one of whom is described as a liberal Republican. This simple statistic looks a lot more sinister when you factor in a few more statistics. For example, five of the Democrats were campaigning for election, compared to none of the Republicans. (At least, the references I read didn’t mention election campaigns in connection with the Republicans.)
At least six of the fatalities-four Democrats and two Republicans-were major threats to powerful interests, all but one because of their issues or whistle-blowing, while a seventh was on a plane carrying other people who posed a threat to the ruling class.
