These non-computerized voting machines were scrapped around the same time the state's highest court denied a request for a full hand count of a close race that determined the majority party in the State Senate -- based on a computer count (New York's Bush v. Gore moment).

So while the Judiciary was busy legislating from the bench and violating voters' constitutional rights, these jerk-offs in Dutchess County were making it impossible, or at least very difficult, for their voters to go back to a system that worked for 100 years.

What is not clear yet is whether any one party is to blame. These decisions are supposed to be made jointly by Democrats and Republicans, but the Republican election commissioner had recently been replaced. For what it's worth, he was VERY pro-lever machine.
