38. Don't wait. Now is the time to get in the streets in your city
All it took to get press coverage here in Nashville (great segments on the evening and morning news on our CBS affiliate and morning mentions on our NPR radio station) was to hold a "Gathering To Save Our Democracy" on the steps of the Tennessee State Capital last Sunday as part of the "51 Capitals" action. We got great attention with only about 100 people at the rally, but we came equipped with signs, speakers and much documentation.

Taking a cue from the Ukrainians, we will be back this Sunday (12/19/04) for our second "Gathering" and this time, we hope to draw 1,000 people to the State Capital (2:00 pm, east side of State Capital, on Charlotte between 6th and 7th -- free parking off Charlotte between 8th and 7th, behind our Supreme Court building). Believe me, we will get more media coverage when we recite the evidence for election theft and our crowd chants "THAT'S THE TRUTH" loud enough to be heard throughout downtown Nashville. At this point, we have speakers lined up from the Kerry/Edwards campaign, the TN Greens, veterans, young voters, older voters, ministers, social scientists -- we even hope to get the Republican candidate for Congress from Nashville who stated during the campaign that he would not vote for Bush.

So get in the streets now!! Demand media attention by doing something newsworthy. Having a large (or even small) broad-based, inclusive, energized, colorful and articulate crowd that assembles peacefully to demand that we save our democracy WILL GET ATTENTION.

To close, here's a link to some coverage we got for our first small rally last Sunday. Stay tuned for more coverage or, better yet, get out there and create your own. With this story finally being legitimized in the Washington Post and New York Times today, what are you waiting for?
