221. I have tracked the first
mention of this problem back to 1986. Ronnie Dugger then covered it in 1988. Rebecca Mercuri started on it in 1990. I wrote a column that mentioned it in 1994. Bev got involved in it in 2002, and I offered to publish her book and act as tech consultant in the Fall of 2002.

Bev discovered the FTP site in January of 2003, but had no idea what it was and called me to explain it to her. (Compare chapter nine of the BBV book on my web site to the one on Bev's web site and you will get an example of the subtle way she changed the official record). Once she knew what they were, she still had no clue what to do about them until Roxanne Jekot put together a team of programmers, set up Bev's .org site (I was already running the .com site) and dissected the code. The next chapter was the Diebold email, which was sent to me. When I told Bev about it she had a fit and said it was a "trap" and she would have to have her lawyer "break" our contract to protect herself from me. Depending on which way the wind was blowing, I was either an idiot who endangered her or a shill working for Diebold to discredit her.

When Bev was finally convinced that the email was legit (because Wired also had a copy) she changed tac and started taking credit for it, though always letting other people host the info and build databases she could them search.

This has been discussed many times in the archives, have you READ any of the previous postings?

Bev was respected until she betrayed the people who helped her for fame and money.
