SmartCOP Earns Diversification Award from Governor Bush

SmartCOP Inc. has been selected to receive a new state award that honors companies boosting Florida's economy as well as helping their communities.

The Pensacola high-tech firm was announced Monday as one of 13 companies across the state that will receive an inaugural Governor's Business Diversification Award this month.

Gov. Jeb Bush will honor the companies Sept. 18 in Tallahassee at the awards program, which was developed by Enterprise Florida to recognize companies for their efforts to diversify and enrich the state's economy by creating higher-wage jobs and investing in their communities.

SmartCOP Inc., a provider of advanced software solutions, will receive the Major Market Entrepreneurship Award. The Pensacola company has developed software that has been used for public safety, allowing law enforcement to help officers make faster and safer decisions as well as citation management.
