5. Did the name & address match your registration?
Edited on Tue Apr-05-05 08:22 AM by IndignusFamulus
I think they just look at the name and address together to see if an individual is registered. If you've moved recently, for example, you may still live in the same precinct, but if your mailing address differs from that on your voter registration, you won't show up as being registered (that's why petitions all require you to give your address when you sign). There are all sorts of reasons why that could be.

In my case, I filed a change of address for my registration last fall, but when I went to vote in my new precinct, I wasn't on the rolls. A phone call downtown revealed that I was still registered at my old address (thankfully, still within walking distance) - apparently, due to the volume of new voter registrations last year, a lot of paperwork never went through that should have.

If you still have your voter registration, check that first. If it looks right, check with the county to see if they have you registered at the proper address. If that checks out, and matches up with everything from whatever it is that caused you the problem (could just be a typo), then by all means, start raising hell.
