New push to ban gay marriages heats up
Advertisements [?]
Conservatives' efforts to ban gay marriage will get an assist from U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa.

U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas, a likely conservative candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, is pushing a constitutional amendment that would ban gays and lesbians from marrying. A similar amendment failed overwhelmingly in the House and Senate last year.

Though opposed to the "Marriage Protection Act," which defines marriage as the union between a man and a woman, Specter plans to vote for the measure when it comes before a Senate subcommittee tomorrow.

Specter, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has opposed amending the Constitution to ban states from allowing gay marriages. But he has supported allowing such bills to go to the Senate floor for votes.

Naturally, Brownshirt ... oops! I mean "Brownback," is pandering to his mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging, room-temperature-IQ base in pushing for this. It would almost be worth having this scombag piece of shit win the Repugnantcan nomination just to see him go down in flames (and, hopefully, take his inbred fun-D'uh-MENTAL-ist followers with him).
