17. Common misconception that mercury has been removed for years

In 1999 the FDA recommended that mercury be removed from vaccines. It was not mandated. There were millions of vaccines sitting on the shelves in doctors offices and to waste these would have damaged profits so they were not removed. It's not until late 2002/early 2003 that most mercury is removed. Still only two states (California & Iowa) have bans on mercury in child vaccines. Most flu shots (mandated for children) still have mercury.
